Ann Harithas, founder of the new museum, has been a judge at the annual Orange Show Houston Art Car Parade for over 25 years and is also founder of the Art Car Museum in Houston. For the 2016 Victoria Art Car Parade, Harithas has organized award-winning art cars from noted car artists for display both at Jam Fest 2016 downtown, and on North Moody Street in and around the Five Points Museum with a new exhibition, <i>Lost Worlds: New Drawings and Sculpture,<\/i> by Houston artist Noah Edmundson on view inside the museum. In addition, students from local schools participating in the Manhattan Art Program (MAP) will have miniature sculptures on display. There will also be kids\u2019 crafts areas hosted by MAP, and food and beverages.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s3\">Festivities will kick off with Victoria\u2019s 5<\/span><span class=\"s4\"><sup>th<\/sup><\/span><span class=\"s3\"> annual Art Car Parade beginning at Main and W. Commercial (by The Victoria Public Library) at 11:30 am and continuing down <\/span><span class=\"s1\">Main Street, right on Church Street., then right on Bridge Street, where some art cars will park so Jam Fest 2016 visitors can take a closer look. The rest of the parade cars will proceed to Five Points Museum at Moody and North Street for the museum exhibition opening. Between 12pm and 4pm, free shuttle buses will transport visitors between Jam Fest and Five Points.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The more than 50 art cars and low riders on exhibit will display a variety of painting and sculptural techniques, including welding and metal craft, gluing and assemblage, and collage. Art cars scheduled to appear include \u201cRex Rabbit\u201d by Larry Fuente and several exquisitely detailed lowriders by the Leal Brother from Corpus Christi<\/span><span class=\"s5\">. <\/span><span class=\"s1\"> All of the art cars have won top honors at the Orange Show Houston Art Car Parade and several can be found on display all year round at Five Points Museum of Contemporary Art in Victoria. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">From April 16 through May 30, 2016, Five Points Museum of Contemporary Art will be exhibiting <b>Lost Worlds: <i>New Drawings and Sculpture<\/i><\/b> by Houston-based artist Noah Edmundson.<i> <\/i>This exhibition features a range of new work, with intricate drawings, metal sculpture, and an example of Mr. Edmundson\u2019s own art car work. Evolving from skilled oil field equipment fabricator, Mr. Edmundson has been working as an artist for over 30 years. His work has been exhibited and commissioned throughout Texas and the United States.
