On January 31, 2026, from 5-8 pm, Five Points Museum of Contemporary Art will host the opening of a new exhibition of paintings by Rock Romano. Romano’s paintings are joyful fusions between abstract and representational approaches where he invites the viewer to create new connections in his work. Primarily landscapes, Romano’s work also includes portraiture and other subject matter, telling stories with color, structure, and archetypal patterns illustrating his own visual reflections while prompting visitors to come along for the ride.

Rock Romano was born in Houston’s Fifth Ward, attending St. Thomas University and beginning his
career in art, garnering the attention of Dominique and John DeMenil for his early work. He ultimately became interested in music, where he has developed a large following, and performed with and produced artists from Houston and around the world. While a full-time musician, he has never stopped painting. This exhibition captures a slice of that visual world that Romano is creating along with his music.

The opening reception, Saturday, January 31st, will feature live entertainment from Houston guitarist Steve Gilbert and light refreshments from 5-8 PM.
