Call for Entries: “Timeline: 200 Years”

Note: We are no longer accepting entries through our online form. If you would still like to be considered, please contact the museum at info@fivepointsmuseum.com.

Organizing Theme: Timeline: 200 Years

Five Points Museum will be hosting its second open call exhibition in 2024, in celebration of Victoria’s Bicentennial. The theme is “Timeline: 200 Years” and we welcome submissions from artists within a 100 mile radius of Victoria to submit artwork that speaks to points along the timeline of the last 200 years, since Victoria was founded.

The theme is a nod to the bicentennial, but within our culture today, carries multiple meanings, from combined years of experience to the personal experience of a family and their ancestors. The focus will be 200 years around Victoria but will also work to include the longer history of immigrants and travelers who found their way to Victoria through trial, opportunity, and serendipity. We encourage artists to think broadly about this theme.

Frequently Asked Questions

Have a question? Send it to us and we’ll get you an answer.

Q: I live more than 100 miles from Victoria. Can I submit work?

A: We will consider work from outside the 100 mile radius if it meets at least one of the following criteria:

  • The artist either lived or worked in Victoria at some point in their lives
  • The artist has another strong connection to the area, such as family
  • The work submitted otherwise fits into the organizing theme of the exhibition – in other words, the work explicitly or implicitly relates to Victoria or the surrounding area

Q: If my work is accepted, can it be offered for sale?

A:   If an artist is accepted, works can be offered for sale within the framework below.

  • Any transactions will be directly between the artist and buyer. Five Points Museum will not accept payment on behalf of artists or collect any commission on any sales.
  • As stated in the initial submission rules, all works must be available for the duration of the exhibition. At the end of the exhibition, the work or works will be released back to the artist.
  • We will be happy to provide interested parties with an artist’s contact information as the artist prefers. We may, as resources permit, maintain a price list of works, indicating any sold works at our front desk.
  • We don’t post advertisements or wording on the exhibition labels referring viewers to a potential purchase. We don’t post ‘red dots’ or ‘sold’ labels within the exhibition itself.

Q: Is there a size limit on what can be submitted for consideration?

A: We are currently considering a wide variety of work sizes. We do have some practical considerations, in that our largest door is 12×12′, and we have limited staff to move very large or heavy pieces. But we will consider works both large and small.

Q: What pixel dimensions should my submission files be?

A: We need enough detail to see your work clearly, but also need to constrain file sizes to not overwhelm our storage capacity. A good rule of thumb is to have your image no larger than 1200×1600 pixels, or 4×6 at 300dpi. Please keep your maximum image size to 1 MB.
